THERE'S another kind of slice on the golf course at Emerald Lakes.
The Carrara course has opened an outdoor gourmet pizza bar so hungry players can indulge in a slice or two that won't affect their handicap.
Available on the ninth hole, the idea is believed to be a first on a Gold Coast golf course and may be enough to lure John Daly to Emerald Lakes.
Emerald Lakes Golf Club general manager Chris Bagley said the aptly named Slice Pizza bar was opened to fill a gap in the market.
"While we have an extensive all-day bistro menu in the clubhouse, there were limited options where golfers could grab a casual bite to eat outside between rounds," he said.
"More importantly, there are no pizza bars within the Emerald Lakes community and limited options in the surrounding suburb, so this also services the community."
Slice Pizza will offer not just the traditional pizza favourites but also souvlaki lamb, chicken peri peri, and wild mushroom ragout options.
Of course, pizza isn't pizza without something to wash it down. Chris says Slice Pizza offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
